Q: A lot of students wanted to hear about the student parking lots in general. As the student body increases, what are the plans to increase parking spot availability?
A: As of now, the first and foremost issue that needs to be addressed is the expansion of the building itself. Our core capacity, including parking, cafeteria, media center, is 800. We’re at 1,330, and next year will be way more than that… I think… right now, I think we have 285 spots… if they redo it, they’ll probably have parking for 600 students and 200 faculty and staff. We have 123 faculty and staff, and as you guys all know, just like the students, we’re parking in grass and parking everywhere creatively we can park to get there.
Q: The question most people asked was why they can’t go off campus during lunch?
A: Yeah, [it’s] never going to happen. If you think about it, if [students] were allowed to go off for 28 minutes… let’s just let’s just say that all the juniors and seniors leave campus, and they are all going to the one spot, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, New Japan, whatever it might be. I think we’ve just massively increased the liability. First of all, the district would have to approve it, [and] I don’t think there is any interest in them [doing so].
Q: A lot of the male students asked about the student bathrooms. A lot of them don’t have dividers and stalls, so is there any plan to renovate them in the future?
A: Every year, there are capital improvement projects… and I put it in every single year. The last time I put it in I actually said that the bathrooms are embarrassing. [The fact] that I can sit down on the toilet, and have a conversation with someone using the urinal? It’s probably not okay… I think there is a legitimate feeling of deserved privacy when you’re taking care of business. We put that in the capital improvement plan and it got rejected… But even as of last week I had a conversation with Central Services. I said, ‘Can we please just put up a full sized divider.’ They legitimately do not have the funds for it. They’d have to put them up in all the bathrooms where [the problem] exists. There is a bathroom right outside my office that I have to go into, [and] it’s hard for me to fit into it. Like I said, it’s embarrassing… but I get why they won’t do it. If they’re going to spend a bunch of money, they might as well spend it [when the school building is renovated] instead of now.
Q; On a lighter note, a lot of students have praised your fashion and want to know where you buy your suits.
A: Oh hey! Where I buy my suits. Well it depends. Which suit? Here’s the thing about a suit, and this is true no matter what. It doesn’t matter the cost of the suit. You always get it tailored. If you get it tailored and it fits you, and it just flows with your body, that makes all the difference in the world. So you can buy a cheap suit. Just take it to the tailor and make sure it fits. I also don’t like any fabrics that are kind of stiff. That’s not my thing. Where do I buy my suits? I buy them from just about everywhere.
