Chalkboard paint

Chalkboard

Turn anything into a writable surface with this creative paint.  Apply this artsy product just like you would with any other paint.

Tips:

  • This paint works best on wood or metal
  • Use slow, smooth brushstrokes to apply it. You want the writing surface to be as smooth as possible.

Crate Shelves

Box

Upcycle some basic crates into convenient and stylish modular shelving with this simple technique. All you need are the crates, cardboard, and duct tape.

Steps:

  • Cut two pieces of cardboard so they slot inside the crate snugly.
  • Leave tabs at each corner of the cardboard to rest it on the grating in the side of the crate
  • Layer the two pieces of cardboard on top of each other so they match
  • Use the duct tape on the edges of the cardboard to secure the two pieces together.
  • You can put as many shelves in the crate as you can fit
  • You then stack as many crates as you need to create a modular shelving system
  • Zip ties can be used if desired to keep the stacked crates firmly attached to each other.
