Every staff member of The Omniscient went to Northwood’s homecoming dance “Midsummers Night’s Dream” on Saturday, Sep. 25 this year! Each member dressed up for the dance in a unique outfit of their choice. First up is me, Social Media Editor Nellielou Errett.

I was very excited for homecoming this year, especially because I got to dress up. I decided to go with a black and red aesthetic (minus the shoes). I originally got my homecoming dress for a Clue dinner earlier this year that never actually happened, but homecoming was my back-up use for it. I was also really excited about wearing make-up and big eyelashes. I got to bowl afterward with a few other Omniscient members and friends outside of the journalism program, which made my experience even more memorable.

“I had a lot of fun at homecoming because I went with my friends. However, the music was a little disappointing and I feel like a lot of the students would agree with me. Regarding my dress, I got it for free because it was my cousin’s club dress from the mid 2010’s, but after she had a baby she couldn’t fit in her old clothes, so I got to keep the dress I wore to homecoming. I saw the pink four-inch heels online from Steve Madden and I thought they just went with the dress so well and were so cute, so I got them. They were the most practical shoes-I didn’t get blisters, they didn’t hurt my feet at all and I stood in them all night no problem.” -Grace Leonard

“I purchased this dress from Macy’s, but I originally bought it for a friend’s birthday party. I decided to rewear it for homecoming because I liked it so much. I really like the color of it and I thought it was a good color on me. I also wore a flower crown to try to fit the theme of ‘A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream’. At the dance I had an issue with the lighting, but I had fun dancing with my friends and going bowling afterward.” -Lily Kate Witcher

“I wore a red tie. It was snazzy. Everyone agreed, including Mr. Davis, my idol.” -Ethan Westmoreland

“My homecoming fit was originally supposed to be from Princess Polly, but it showed up super late, so I had to rush to Macy’s and get a new dress. Luckily, I got this pretty red sparkly dress that I really really liked, and it was a fun color. Overall, I had a lot of fun at the dance. I definitely went in with lower expectations, but I had a great time.” -Alessia Iacono

“I actually got my dress when I went prom dress shopping last year. I was trying on dresses and this one was kind of a shorter dress, so it wasn’t really prom-ish, but it was cute. It was also pretty cheap so my mom was like ‘we should just buy it so we can use it for something else’ and homecoming was that something else that I used it for. I really liked the dress it was blue and kind of shiny. It was really fun and lively, and the DJ was alright, but everyone found a way to still make it enjoyable.” -Caroline Murrell

“My outfit was the best, obviously. I was in a suit and I was very happy with the outcome of my look altogether. I got the suit from Second Bloom. Originally I was going to wear a dress from a store in Raleigh though. I also did not like the fact that I could not see anybody at the dance. I lost my friends multiple times. I appreciated most of the music… they could have been better about putting the song in a good order though.” -Ivy (Bones) Brock

“What I wore to homecoming I got for 20 dollars at Goodwill, but it looked pretty good for what it cost. At the dance it was very dark; they could have pointed the lights at the actual courtyard instead of the trees.” -Liam Sovereign
