Pittsboro’s Hidden Gems

Pittsboro has seen growth of 21.25 percent from 2010 to 2020, according to the Raleigh News Observer. With as many people headed to the area, it’s important to keep an eye out for a few hidden gems in the central region. Pittsboro has many entertainment opportunities, including a beautiful downtown with vintage architecture and a rich history. But a few notable areas have flown undisclosed to recent tourists and shouldn’t be missed.

The Plant is a beautiful free-of-entry seventeen-acre self-described ‘eco-industrial’ park. It’s a cozy slice-of-life street surrounded by a diverse crowd of both tourists and locals. The Plant frequently holds events, such as live music and plant sales. With a playground and a common food truck, The Plant is a wonderful choice for a mindful stroll, a scenic picnic, or a family-fun day.

Fearrington Village is an open neighborhood with exquisite gardens and farms; its nature walk is reminiscent of The Plant. It’s an amazing place for photographers and artists alike to enjoy and capture the stunning nature in the Pittsboro area. Furry friends are welcome on a leash. Close to the garden is The Belted Goat, and a delightful glimpse into Pittsboro cuisine.

Nestled cozily downtown is Finders and Seekers Emporium. Everywhere you look is a story to tell in each of its themed rooms. From a fashion-oriented space to a vinyl records room, all the way to a spiritual room with crystals and tarot cards, the Emporium has a little something for everyone. It’s a great find for new opportunities to learn and love.

Close by is Circle City Books. Completely volunteer run, Circle City Books is a used book store with walls covered top-to-bottom in stories upon stories. Just as one room is going to end, another one begins. There are chairs and stools for readers to peruse and read, taking their time and enjoying the intellectual atmosphere of the store. With non-fiction and fiction, adults to young adults to children’s books, this is another guaranteed place to find a niche.
