Every Thursday, members of both the LGBTQ+ community and allies meet for Pride Club. Created in 2015, Pride Club has grown in numbers since then and is attempting to create a designated space for students at Northwood.
This year, Northwood’s student council is taking a new approach after a challenging year. “[We hope to] ignite unity within Northwood’s community by creating engaging opportunities,” Student Body President Kennedy Poston said.
Schools everywhere are trying to embrace school spirit for the first full school year since the start of the pandemic, and Northwood is no exception. This school year already has the potential to be a busy one as many events and activities are set to return after a long hiatus.
There are many new clubs at Northwood this year, but one that has drawn lots of attention is The Mix Up club, a baking program that helps homeless shelters in the community.
The North Carolina State Fair is a cultural staple of the Piedmont region. To many, the Fall season isn’t complete without a massive turkey leg in hand and the residual nausea from a spinning fair ride. Unfortunately, these festivities are much harder to enjoy safely amidst a global pandemic.
